Divyajyoti Trust is a registered charitable trust under Public Charitable Trust Act established recently by philanthropic minded individuals involved in the services of poor people for last two decades.Having imbibed the ideas and ideals suggested by Gandhiji to serve the nation,they have decided to devote their life to the service of humanity in interior rural tribal areas.Joined by several like minded people, trust will get involved in all the activities to help the poor community with the help of available manpower & resources.

Since the main expertise available at this moment is in the field of Ophthalmology, the trust will start working in eye care by setting up an eye hospital.

  • We have performed 1055 Surgeries during this month. For the first time in our history, we have crossed 1000 mark in April. The month was very hot and May is also going to be hot. The workload has definitely dipped as compared to winter months.
  • We performed 8 retina surgeries on 3rd April. This is the highest number of retina surgeries performed by us in one day in the history of Divyajyoti trust. .
  • Dr. Mansi Karia left us after 15th April. We are looking for a full time cornea and glaucoma surgeons. Meanwhile, we are managing the activities with the help of visiting surgeons..
  • We have continued bi monthly visit of a team consisting of Ophthalmologist, Ophthalmic assistant, maintenance staff and cleaning staff to vision centres.
  • Overall, the performance at Uchchal, Khapar, Kosamba, Kim and Umarpada has shown reasonable improvement during last year. Due to change in staff, the performance at Dediapada has dropped. Bardoli is still struggling for improvement. Our supervisors team is trying their best to bring about improvement.
  • One community meeting was organised in Khapar on 16th April. It was attended by 22 Persons. They have promised to help us in improving the performance of the centre.
  • The new batch of Vision Assistant students was started from 1st August. Revision of theory classes is going on. They have picked up practical skills also nicely.
  • Theory classes for the first year of Optometry students are going on. After one more drop out, there are now ten students this year. Their first semester final exam is planned in first week of June.
  • Weekly online meetings for LEAP series is going on and our team is improving the data collection slowly but steadily. There are some minor hiccups in the activity. We have realised that there is a major mistake in data entry. We will be rectifying the mistake from January onwards by editing the entries. At the same time, data collection from vision centres also needs improvement. We will assign this task to one individual. Eventually, this will help us look at our data more carefully.
  • Mr. Vimal Prajapati attended one day training in “Report writing for NGOO” organised by Ahmedabad Management Association at their campus in Ahmedabad on 19th April.
  • Dr. Nisarg Shah from Vadodara has joined his two months short term SICS fellowship from 15th April onwards.
  • After the final year end exams, all the children have gone to their native places. We will call them for one workshop in May.
  • We have screened 116 babies and treated 2 babies during the month.Right now, there is support available for Rajpipla Civil Hospital screening activity only.
  • KAPS authority have sponsored 500 cataract operations this year. This is completed before the stipulated time period.
  • Eye camps and spectacles distribution camps in Songadh taluka are going on well. We have organised more than 22 camps – one camp in each village (extra effort to reach each individual in need) by now. More than 993 readymade spectacles and 132 tailor-made spectacles are distributed during the month. Our special thanks to Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital, Dharampur and Shri Manubhai Shah from USA for the same.
  • During this month, we have screened 38030 individuals and covered a population of 161872 Total 167 cataract operations have been performed on patients from Songadh block during the month. All 16 workers are working hard to complete the survey work quickly. M/S Sajjan India has sponsored this project under their CSR activity. They are happy with the outcome at the end of the year. They may continue to support this activity in next financial year.
  • Construction work has resumed in April. We are hoping that the civil work in D building will be over by middle of May. Civil work in A building, will be completed hopefully before monsoon. Flooring in B and C buildings is completed. Colour work in these two buildings is also almost finished. Electrification, plumbing and carpentary work is going on. We are in the process of bringing all other agencies on board now.
  • Eyecreel 600 IOL study of Biotech was started during the month. Total 120 enrolments has already been done including 46 patients bilateral enrolment.
  • We had sent all our drivers to Gajadhara for half a day training in safe and efficient driving. They have understood the driving skills required for this purpose through the training. Now, we are planning to invite the same faculty here. We are requesting all our staff members who are using two wheelers also to undergo this training.
  • Japan trip of 10 members involved in Occlutab study is confirmed. We will be sending necessary documents to the Company soon. They will visit Japan in end of Sept. to understand research activities in details.
  • L & T CSR team visited us on 18th April and were happy to see the good work going on here. They have approved one set of equipments for OT and OPD. Our team will visit them next month to take this forward. We are thankful to them for providing this support.
